# Homemade peach iced tea recipe — a pitcher for the whole table

Fresher than any bottle from the shop, with exactly as much sugar as you like: iced tea made with real peaches is the favourite pitcher of the summer table. Copy the ingredients to your room, tick off what's missing at the shop, and keep the steps open on your phone.

*6 glasses · 20 min + chilling*

**In short:** Peach iced tea takes 4 black tea bags, 3 ripe peaches, 40 g sugar, half a lemon and 1.25 litres of water in total, which makes about 6 glasses. Simmer the peaches with sugar into a syrup, steep the tea for 4 minutes, combine everything in a pitcher, chill for at least 2 hours and serve over ice.

## Ingredients

- Black tea bags — 4
- Peaches — 3, ripe
- Sugar — 40 g
- Lemon — ½
- Water — 1.25 litres
- Ice — for serving
- Fresh mint — a few sprigs, optional
- Honey — instead of sugar, optional

## Method

1. Wash the peaches, remove the stones and slice them. Set 6–8 slices aside for serving and chop the rest small.
2. Simmer the chopped peaches with 40 g sugar and 250 ml water in a pan for 8–10 minutes, until the peaches are very soft. Mash with a fork, strain and let it cool.
3. In a separate pot or jug, steep the 4 tea bags in 500 ml boiling water for 4 minutes; remove the bags without squeezing them, as squeezing makes the tea bitter.
4. Stir the brewed tea, the peach syrup and the remaining 500 ml of cold water together in a pitcher. Add the juice of half a lemon and taste; if you want it sweeter, dissolve in a little more sugar or honey.
5. Cover the pitcher and chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
6. Pour over ice and serve with the reserved peach slices and mint.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why does iced tea go cloudy?

If hot-brewed tea is cooled too quickly, some of its compounds can clump and make it cloudy. Let the tea come down to room temperature before it goes in the fridge; a little lemon juice also lightens the colour and helps it clear.

### How do I make cold-brew iced tea?

Leave the tea bags in 1 litre of cold water in the fridge for 6–8 hours, then remove them. The tea comes out smoother and less astringent; add the peach syrup and lemon juice the same way.

### How long does homemade iced tea keep in the fridge?

In a covered pitcher it stays good for 2–3 days. Add the peach slices, mint and ice at serving time, and don't drink it if the smell or taste has changed.

### Can I change the list?

Of course. The ready-made list is just a starting point: delete, add, move items between categories.

### Do I need an account?

No. A room code is all it takes — no email, password or signup.

### How long is the list kept?

As long as you use it. A list is only deleted after a month without any activity; even opening the room resets the clock.

### Can I install it on my phone?

Yes. With the room open, tap "Save Room" to add it to your home screen and open it with one tap.
