# Margarita recipe — tequila, lime and a salted rim

Three ingredients, a shaker and a salted rim: the Margarita is the easiest and most eye-catching cocktail for a house party. Copy the ingredients to your room, tick off what's missing at the shop, and keep the steps open on your phone.

*1 glass · 5 min*

**In short:** A Margarita takes 50 ml tequila, 20 ml triple sec (orange liqueur) and 15 ml fresh lime juice, shaken with ice for 10–15 seconds and strained into a glass with a salted rim. It takes about 5 minutes. Freshly squeezed lime juice, rather than a ready-made sour mix, is what gives the drink its balance.

## Ingredients

- Tequila (blanco) — 50 ml
- Triple sec (orange liqueur) — 20 ml
- Lime — 1 (for 15 ml juice)
- Coarse salt — for the rim
- Ice — for the shaker
- Lime wedge — for rim and garnish
- Agave syrup — 5–10 ml, optional
- Jalapeño — 1–2 slices, optional

## Method

1. Moisten the outer edge of the glass (a cocktail glass or a short tumbler) with a lime wedge, turn it upside down and press it lightly into coarse salt. Salting only the outside keeps salt out of the drink.
2. Chill the glass, without ice, in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes.
3. Add 50 ml tequila, 20 ml triple sec and 15 ml freshly squeezed lime juice to a shaker. If you don't have one, a jar with a tight lid will do.
4. Fill the shaker with ice, close it and shake hard for 10–15 seconds, until the outside is frosty.
5. Strain into the chilled glass; if you're using a tumbler, add fresh ice first.
6. Garnish with the lime wedge and serve right away.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I get salt to stick to the rim of a Margarita glass?

Run a lime wedge around the rim, then turn the glass upside down and press it lightly into a plate of coarse salt. Salting only the outside keeps the drink itself from turning salty, and you get a hint of salt with each sip.

### What if my Margarita is too sour or too strong?

If it's too sour, add 5–10 ml of agave or sugar syrup; if it's too strong, shake a few seconds longer, as melting ice softens the drink. Make small adjustments first, then taste again.

### How do I make a non-alcoholic Margarita?

Shake 50 ml orange juice, 15 ml lime juice and, if you like, a teaspoon of agave syrup with ice in place of the tequila and triple sec, and keep the salted rim. A splash of soda makes it lighter and fresher.

### Can I change the list?

Of course. The ready-made list is just a starting point: delete, add, move items between categories.

### Do I need an account?

No. A room code is all it takes — no email, password or signup.

### How long is the list kept?

As long as you use it. A list is only deleted after a month without any activity; even opening the room resets the clock.

### Can I install it on my phone?

Yes. With the room open, tap "Save Room" to add it to your home screen and open it with one tap.
