# Negroni recipe — three ingredients in equal parts

Bitter, sweet and herbal: the secret of a Negroni lies in equality, not in precision. Three bottles, a glass and an orange are enough. Copy the ingredients to your room, tick off what's missing at the shop, and keep the steps open on your phone.

*1 glass · 5 min*

**In short:** A Negroni is made in equal parts: 30 ml gin, 30 ml Campari (or another red bitter) and 30 ml sweet red vermouth. Stir them over ice for 20–30 seconds, strain over one large ice cube and finish with an orange peel. No shaker is needed, and it takes about 5 minutes.

## Ingredients

- Gin — 30 ml
- Campari (or another red bitter) — 30 ml
- Sweet red vermouth — 30 ml
- Orange — 1, for the peel
- Ice cubes — for stirring
- Large ice cube — for serving
- Soda water — 30 ml, optional
- Prosecco — 30 ml, optional

## Method

1. Fill a mixing glass (or a large tumbler) more than halfway with ice cubes.
2. Add 30 ml each of gin, Campari (or another red bitter) and sweet vermouth.
3. Stir with a long spoon for 20–30 seconds, until the outside of the glass is cold and misted. Don't shake: a Negroni should stay clear and silky.
4. Put one large ice cube in a short glass and strain the mix over it.
5. Peel a wide strip of orange zest, fold it over the drink to release the oils onto the surface, then drop it in the glass.
6. Serve right away.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why is a Negroni stirred rather than shaken?

All three ingredients are boozy and rich, so shaking would cloud the drink, dilute it too much and spoil its texture. Stirring keeps it clear, cold and silky.

### How do I soften a Negroni that tastes too bitter?

Stir a little longer to dilute it, or top it with 30 ml of soda water. Swapping the gin for prosecco gives a lighter version known as a Negroni Sbagliato.

### Can I make a non-alcoholic Negroni?

Yes: mix equal parts of an alcohol-free gin alternative and an alcohol-free bitter aperitif, add 15–20 ml of red grape juice for sweetness, stir over ice and serve with an orange peel. It won't have the same depth, but it keeps the bitter-sweet balance.

### Can I change the list?

Of course. The ready-made list is just a starting point: delete, add, move items between categories.

### Do I need an account?

No. A room code is all it takes — no email, password or signup.

### How long is the list kept?

As long as you use it. A list is only deleted after a month without any activity; even opening the room resets the clock.

### Can I install it on my phone?

Yes. With the room open, tap "Save Room" to add it to your home screen and open it with one tap.
