BBQ party checklist — from meat to charcoal

The worst moment at the grill is realising someone forgot something as simple as the charcoal or the tongs. This list covers the party from meat and fire to salad and drinks, and with a room code everyone ticks the item they bring. No sign-up needed.

In short

Plan about 250 to 300 grams of meat per person for a BBQ, split between beef, meatballs, chicken wings and sausages if you grill several kinds. Add roughly half a kilo of charcoal per person, plus bread, salad, tomatoes, peppers and onions, and don't forget tongs, skewers and foil. Take the meat out of the fridge 30 minutes ahead and start once the coals are covered in white ash.

Tips

  • Wait until the coals are covered in white ash; meat over open flames burns outside and stays raw inside.

  • Take the meat out of the fridge 30 minutes before grilling, since cold meat cooks unevenly.

  • If fat drips and flares up, slide the meat to the edge of the fire; water only kicks up ash and makes the meat smoky.

  • Marinate the meat at least two hours ahead, ideally overnight, and keep it in the fridge until grilling.

How it works

  1. 1. Open your room

Tap the button and the items land in a fresh room. No account, no email, nothing to install.

  3. 3. Finish it together

Who's buying what shows up instantly; bought items get ticked, so nobody buys the same thing twice.

Frequently asked questions

When are the coals ready for grilling?

When they are covered in white ash, usually about 30 minutes after lighting. Over open flames, meat burns outside and stays raw inside.

How do you marinate meat for a BBQ?

Mix olive oil with lemon juice or yoghurt, grated onion and spices, and leave the meat in it for at least two hours, ideally overnight, in the fridge. Yoghurt marinades usually suit chicken and wings, olive oil ones beef.

How do you put out charcoal after a BBQ?

Let the coals burn out and cool completely on their own; closing the lid, if the grill has one, cuts the oxygen and speeds it up. Ash that looks dead can stay hot for hours, so make sure it is fully cold before it goes in the trash.

Can I change the list?

Of course. The ready-made list is just a starting point: delete, add, move items between categories.

Do I need an account?

No. A room code is all it takes — no email, password or signup.

How long is the list kept?

As long as you use it. A list is only deleted after a month without any activity; even opening the room resets the clock.

Can I install it on my phone?

Yes. With the room open, tap "Save Room" to add it to your home screen and open it with one tap.
