Winter car kit checklist — ready for snow and ice
Being stranded in winter is far more dangerous than in summer, and a few pieces of the right gear close that gap. This list covers what the trunk should hold for snow and ice, and with a room code the whole household sees the car's status. No sign-up needed.
In short
A winter car kit should hold snow chains, an ice scraper, snow brush, folding shovel, de-icer spray, winter washer fluid and antifreeze. In case you're stranded, add a blanket, gloves and a hat, hand warmers, a thermos and energy bars, plus sand or salt and a traction mat. Jumper cables, a tow rope, a reflective vest, a flashlight, a power bank and a first aid kit complete it.
20 items go straight into your new room; delete what you don't need, add what's missing. No account needed.

Tips
Before setting off, check the weather, road conditions and any chain requirement, and postpone if you can when a severe weather warning is out.
Keep the tank at least half full; if you get stranded you may need to run the engine to keep warm.
If you're stuck in snow, make sure the exhaust isn't blocked whenever the engine is running; carbon monoxide can seep into the car.
Fit winter tyres once temperatures stay below 7 degrees Celsius, and check the tread depth at the start of the season.
Tell someone your arrival time before a long winter drive, so that if you're stranded they know where to look.
How it works
1. Open your room
Tap the button and the items land in a fresh room. No account, no email, nothing to install.
2. Share the code
Send the room code or the link to the group; everyone's on the same list in seconds.
3. Finish it together
Who's buying what shows up instantly; bought items get ticked, so nobody buys the same thing twice.
Frequently asked questions
When should you fit winter tyres?
The common advice is to fit them once temperatures stay below 7 degrees Celsius, because winter tyre rubber stays more flexible in the cold. Some countries and roads have set dates or requirements for winter tyres, so check the rules where you'll be driving.
Should you practise fitting snow chains before a trip?
Yes; fitting chains for the first time in snow and cold is hard, so try them once at home on flat ground and keep the instructions in the boot. Chains normally go on the drive wheels, so check your car's manual, and don't exceed the low speed the manufacturer specifies.
What should you do if you're stranded in your car in winter?
Staying in the car is usually safer than trying to walk for help: switch on the hazard lights, call for help (the local emergency number or roadside assistance) and share your location. Run the engine only now and then to warm up, make sure the exhaust isn't blocked by snow, and keep the blanket and warm layers on.
Can I change the list?
Of course. The ready-made list is just a starting point: delete, add, move items between categories.
Do I need an account?
No. A room code is all it takes — no email, password or signup.
How long is the list kept?
As long as you use it. A list is only deleted after a month without any activity; even opening the room resets the clock.
Can I install it on my phone?
Yes. With the room open, tap "Save Room" to add it to your home screen and open it with one tap.
